This fabulous win was all about character

This fabulous win was all about character
By GRANT FOX - Fairfax Media | Sunday, 14 September 2008

Australia asked what the All Blacks had in Brisbane last night. The answer was character - and there were bucketloads of it.
That's funny. I thought having the Ref in their pocket was the key.
There was courage in coming back from a 10-point deficit.

There was strategic nous in the use of the bench.

There was patience despite a weight of possession, territory and time in their own 22 going against them.

In Richie McCaw there was a great leader's performance from a man who has grown out of adversity in Cardiff to become a captain of immense stature.

And there was steel in working down the clock when Australia got themselves into the game again in the dying stages.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Wallabies v All-Blacks a true nailbiter at Suncorp

A DROUGHT-breaking Tri-Nations title slipped through the Wallabies' fingers last night as the All Blacks pulled off a 28-24 comeback victory at a heaving Suncorp Stadium.

Australia wasted a 10-point second-half lead in the pulsating clash through costly turnovers which were duly punished by the ruthless New Zealanders who retained the Tri-Nations and Bledisloe Cup with the win.

The All Blacks scored three straight converted tries after trailing 17-7 early in the second-half to have the decider seemingly wrapped up at 28-17.

But a bustling Ryan Cross try and a last-minute attack had the Wallabies inside the visitors quarter on the last play of the game but couldn't produce the dream finish most of the 52,328-strong crowd wished.
