Giteau to lead Baa-Baas against Boks

Australia's Matt Giteau will lead an all-star line-up for the Barbarians against South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday.

It is Giteau's third appearance in four years for the Barbarians but his first as captain.

Fly-half Giteau, who has tasted victory as a Barbarian against South Africa and New Zealand in the past, will be partnered at half-back by fellow Australian scrum-half Will Genia in a starting line-up which includes six Australians and five All Blacks plus Italy's Salvatore Perugini and Martyn Williams from Wales.

Two uncapped players are also included, New Zealand number eight Colin Bourke from the Chiefs and Western Province captain and second row Anton van Zyl who will relish the chance of facing his fellow countrymen.

Boring, even Scotland can beat the boks.

Lets put up a NH baa baas team vs a SH baa baas team.

Not that it set the world on fire when they tried that in 2005.

This team'll have trouble when the captain will run the ball to the sideline at every possible opportunity

I think I would have selected Chris Jack for the job, out of not many leaders.

Omg, I just looked at the team sheet in response to burgs' comment about not many leaders. Giteau at 10????? What the he'll were they thinking, nonu won't see the ball unless he rips it off Gits in the tackle.

And, if it were my team, I'd swap Moore and mealamu to get a captain on the field

Hopefully he can stake a claim for regular starting flyhalf in the baa baas, god knows he doesn't have a chance in an Australian team

He had a match winning performance last time he played #10 for the Baa Baa's so i can see why they would want him there again, his style at #10 suits the role in that backline. I'm not sure why he gets to be captain though, it doesn't matter much anyway for the Baa Baa's, giving it to a fly half or scrum half who will be on the pitch for the whole game is more of a default call.

I think we are all being a bit too hard on Gits, I still beleive that he will get it together, and for next years world cup he will start at 10 with Barnes at 12 and Cooper playing as an impact off the bench.

Cooper is in for a tough Super 15, not only will overseas teams try and expose his now known defensive weakness but playing the Brumbies twice gives Gits two shots at upstaging him, and Barnes twice for NSW will want to play well enough to keep his tsrting line up place and I expect NSW will have him at 10.

    Intresting 2011 ahead

Gits has had three years to sort out his game at 10 and it hasn't happened, all that he's done is stuff up his game at 12. He won't play 10 for the Brumbies and, given the way he always runs to the outside, won't do a thing to expose Quade's defense.Gits is a 12, and ATM, not the best one in oz
