Force conspiracy nuts finally face reality of Giteau's future
Greg Growden | March 14, 2008
RUCK & MAUL
The Brumbies are understandably buoyant to discover Matt Giteau is keeping his options open over which province he will play for after next year. While Giteau has extended his contract with the Australian Rugby Union until after the 2011 World Cup, it includes a get-out clause allowing him to consider other Super 14 offers once his deal with the Western Force expires at the end of next year. So the Brumbies will continue to do what they can to lure Giteau back to Canberra. When the Herald last year revealed Giteau was considering returning to the Brumbies, the Force immediately went on the attack, carrying on about some bizarre eastern media conspiracy. Despite the endless official denials, the report was correct, and it is intriguing that some of those people who originally poo-pooed the report are now covering their backsides by indicating that Giteau may eventually end up with his former club in the capital. Short memories indeed.

Oh dear Greg, how you enjoy digging your own grave.
Just because the Brumbies want him back (who wouldn't) how does that mean that Giteau wants to go back for sure? Which is what the original allegation was all about...
growden
who is the sauce of this speculation? Because thats all it is at the moment.
Maybe Force1 can come back and shed somemore light on this subject

Maybe I missed the press conference where Giteau said he was considering returning to the Brumbies....maybe he's left his option open because he wants to play for the Reds???
Face it Grumbles, you were wrong. At the very least you made a general statement without any supporting evidence. I could do the same and say that Tiquri is considering coming to the Force when is contract with the Tahs is up, it doesn't mean it's true, but it doesn't mean it isn't true.
But he's the chief rugby correspondant for the ARU? Surely he wouldn't let something go to print that is purely speculation and with no evidence to such speculation up?![]()
Hate to say it but at this stage, IMHO, its 1-0 to Growden. We wanted Gits to commit beyond '09 but he hasn't and probably won't until sometime next year so at the moment we're the one's biting the nails and praying.
Let's be clear, that is not an apology. What he is saying is that he was right:
"The Brumbies are understandably buoyant to discover Matt Giteau is keeping his options open...When the Herald last year revealed Giteau was considering returning to the Brumbies, the Force immediately went on the attack...Despite the endless official denials, the report was correct...some of those people who originally poo-pooed the report are now covering their backsides by indicating that Giteau may eventually end up with his former club in the capital."
So, on the off chance that he might read this, I'll be clear on my position - Greg, you are a large sack of crap, full to the top. What you actually said was:
"Matt Giteau...may seek a release from his multi-million-dollar Western Force contract and return to the Brumbies...the Wallabies utility back has recently been in contact with influential rugby officials seeking advice over his legal rights, which have also involved "discreet discussions" over the possibility of moving back to his home town, Canberra."
(Giteau may sever rich ties to Force - New Zealand - rugbyheaven07.com.au)
Instead what actually happened is that he did not seek a release (so you were definitively wrong) and has re-signed with both the ARU and the Force. However, while his commitment is binding with the ARU, he retains a get-out clause with the Force timed to coincide with the end of his current contract. If he doesn't exercise that clause, he rolls into the new contract.
I think you should send that (without the insults) to Grumbles...
Thanks for clearing that up Andy..
it aint over till giteau sings!
No andy, keep the insults![]()
Well done Andy.
I thought I remembered that Grumbles claimed Giteau was trying to get out of the deal early, but couldn't be bothered trying to find the old article.

Greg says ...
This is classig Growden! He makes a grand statement, totally unsubstantiated and created using his own consderable butt-gas, refers to himself as an independent and highly reputable source, waits until something in the future can be twisted into a justification of said original piece of shit and types a tersely worded I told you so, thinking that it justifies the original fiction!
LOAD OF CRAP!
C'mon the![]()
