Nick Taylor | The West Australian
Wednesday, 7 February 2018 5:00AM
Former Western Force and international backs Peter Grant and Marcel Brache are the first two players to commit to a new era of WA rugby.
Springbok fly-half Grant and outside back Brache, who was in the US side that beat Argentina in the Americas Rugby Championship at the weekend, will lead the new Force into the National Rugby Championship.
They are also likely to be in the mix for the Indo Pacific Rugby Championship squad when that kicks off in March next year.
Matt Hodgson, former Force captain and now IPRC head of elite performance, has been negotiating with a number of high-profile players since mining billionaire Andrew Forrest launched the competition when Rugby Australia axed the Force last year.
Hodgson said the fledgling side would have a strong showing in the NRC.
“The NRC is a big thing for WA this year. We need a professional element and these two boys will lead the way,” he said.

Haven't had much contact with Peter but Marcel ,although not a flashplayer, from a development perspective is a great signing. He always makes time for the kids with a big smile as well.
Good news.
He should call them men, not boys, though. Using "the boys" is fine when talking in a post-match interview.
Providing info on behalf of the organisation and calling them two boys is a bit wrong, IMO, even though I'm sure no harm was meant.
Great to see these blokes commit.
In Brache's case a big punt as the amount of Rugby he will play leading up to the RWC is uncertain.

Hopefully others such as Pek and Heath won't be far behind!

Going ahead with or without RA's approval or sanction (basically Forrest has had enough).
Go Mr Forest!! You have my upmost respect and support!
On re-reading this press release I can only assume that Nick Taylor means that Marcel and Peter will form part of the Leadership Group.
OR
They are leading the group of new or re- signings for the Western Force.
Both top blokes and great to have them on board.
I reckon ex-Captain and colleague, Matt Hodgson can get away with calling them boys - but probably not recommended for the rest of us.
I'm sure he can probably get away with it, but it will sound a bit wrong in publicly reported statements.
His role is now a boss man. He holds some power over the players.
The rest of us can call the players "the boys" all we like. It's informal and doesn't matter because we don't have that power.
Similar thing for players themselves, and these guys do it all the time talking about teammates. No probs among peers ... including for the captain who is only the first among equals. It doesn't reflect the organisation.
It's a different dynamic for management.
meh - boys is fine.
You lot write so much dribble. The Force side of twf has degenerated to a very low level. Clearly too much time on your hands with nothing much else going on.
Thank God you're all banned from the club side of things.
