Associates continued their impressive form over the second half of the KWIK Premier Grade season to defeat Palmyra 22-17 in the cut throat Minor Semi-Final held at Lark Hill on Sunday.

Soaks found themselves two points down with just ten minutes remaining on the clock but took the lead when Alex Rovira crossed for his second five pointer of the game and Zac Holmes calmly slotted the conversion. Palmyra continued to battle hard until the end but couldn’t find the line to force extra time.

The win has booked Asssociates a meeting with Cottesloe next Saturday at Hartfield with a spot in the Grand Final against Nedlands up for grabs after they defeated the Gulls comfortably 29-11 to advance directly to the big game.

The first week of the RugbyWA finals ran extremely smoothly thanks to the contribution of host clubs Rockingham and Perth Bayswater.

RugbyWA Manager Community Rugby, Matt Tink, was delighted with how the event was coordinated and said it was a credit to everyone involved both on and off the field.

“We couldn’t have asked for better weather and it was a great crowd that showed up to support their local teams,” Tink said.

“We had fifteen out of the seventeen clubs in WA represented over the weekend so it was good to see everyone getting into the rugby spirit.”
