    Ealesy is coming back???

    I knew he retired early.

Inn; are you saying the former coach of England is good enough to be mentioned in the same sentence as the greatest Rugby player ever?

    Oh good Luke

A real Rugby discussion. Lets Go.

Please tell me Luke. How many games did Mr Woodward play for England?
How many times he Captained England?
How was he respected as a player by his international peers?
How many times was he presented the Rugby World Cup as Captain of his country?

Luke I ask you these questions as I dont know Mr Woodwards resume.

I ask these questions because I have heard that Mr Woodward doesnt really know much about Rugby at all. Apparently as a Man Manager and an organiser he is without peer? Could you please fill in the blanks for this poor uneducated Aussie

bit before my time mate..... we are not all past our prime!
all i know is he took us to no.1 and was the coach of the mighty red rose when it came to the convict colony and stole the world cup from the aussie's grasp.

Great news - Bring back Sir Clive. Might just show that he is a shite coach and was lucky enough to have a great team under his control. Has he done anything since? Lions tour?!?!? Soccer?!?!?!

And really - you coach a team to win a trophy and they make him a SIR?!? What a load of crap that title has become.

With the current England team he doesn't have a change at '07 at least not without his love child wilko

Luke, rather then waiting for hell to freeze over waiting for you to take part in a genuine Rugby discusison i found this as an answer to my questions.

    Eales v Woodward:
One of the great International Rugby debates is who held the greater place in rugby history, the great Wallaby Captain John Eales or the record of player and coach Clive Woodward.
Sometimes statistics can be the best of friends to the debator:

    * John Eales- 86 Caps over 10 years, third most capped lock in International Rugby.
Clive Woodward- 21 Caps over 4 years
    * John Eales- 173 points, 8th on the all-time scoring list for Australia. Highest scoring forward in test rugby history and only one of two forwards to have ever surpassed 100 points in test rugby.
Clive Woodward- Unknown but minimal; "his style and ambition yielded embarrassing errors."
    * John Eales- Captained for Australia a record 55 times. 86 caps make him the most capped forward in Australia’s test rugby history and joint 3rd on the overall list. One of five players to have won the Rugby World Cup twice.
Clive Woodward- Never Captained his country, doesn't figure in any known English records and has never won a single World Cup as a player. Managed a team of good players and a platoon of coaches and staff to one World Cup victory.
    * John Eales- Had the heart of a Lion.
Clive Woodward- Destroyed the heart of the Lions.

On balance, any level headed rugby follower would have to agree that while Sir Clive Woodward is a great in the field of man management, in terms of rugby greatness he will evolve to be little more than a footnote in the codes history compared to the genuine greatness of John Eales AM.
