Bledisloe legends play for quake appeal

A charity rugby match between the Classic All Blacks and their old Australia rivals in Brisbane has raised almost $A300,000 for the Christchurch earthquake relief fund.

The All Black veterans, including Cantabrians Justin Marshall, Scott Robertson, Caleb Ralph and Reuben Thorne, won 58-20 at Ballymore on Thursday night though the score line was always of secondary importance.

A crowd of around 20,000 watched their Test heroes roll back the years with a game wisely divided into four 20 minutes quarters - and unlimited substitutions -- to build in plenty of recovery time.

it actually raised over $400'000, it was a great example of the rugby community coming together to support one another.. a sell-out crowd on a Thursday night is a pretty impressive performance by any margin

Were you able to go TOCC? Would have been great to watch I'm sure.
Though by the score line there looks to be a bit of competitive spirit left in the old fellas yet, no one point contrived win.

Don't know KQ, but would think there would have to be some footage for the Rugby Club being two (more?) of their commentators involved?

no didnt go, im not even in australia at the moment...

the game was streamed live on Triple M though... I think it was a case that the organisers really didnt think it would be as popular as it was, it was only proposed by Greg Martin as a joke 2 weeks ago.

A couple of crosses in the rugby club showed marto and Timmy horan's ugly heads and no rugby to speak of, but other than that no
