Folau agrees terms to stay with Tahs

Dual international Israel Folau is tantalisingly close to signing a two-year deal with Australian rugby after agreeing to terms with the NSW Waratahs.
It is understood the Wallabies fullback, who made his name in rugby league and experimented with AFL before switching to rugby union eight months ago, has agreed to play two more seasons under Michael Cheika at NSW and is now waiting for the Australian Rugby Union to come to the party before the deal is made official.
The Waratahs and the ARU, who both stump up funding for Wallabies players, were hoping to have matters finalised soon after the British and Irish Lions series, in which Folau made his Test debut in stunning fashion. But as time drags on it appears increasingly possible Folau could go into the Wallabies' Rugby Championship campaign under new coach Ewen McKenzie next month without his future locked down.

Have the rules changed? I thought you weren't supposed to report that a player had signed until the ARU had ratified the contract, and if that player was a Wallaby, that included the ARU top-up.

Or is it one rule for some, ...

    Yes.

But there are lots of other rules that are only for some too. Like salary cap rules and ground hire fees.

I think our CEO should jump on this one rule for one and different rules for others... But HEY! what do I know?

nothing has been announced by anyone. Its reported he has agreed with the tahs and now is waiting for the ARU contract same as any player.

Maybe TWF could stir the pot. I often listen to the ES radio sports shows via internet radio when driving to/from work. There are a couple of Rugby types among all the Mungos. And they all take callers.
