    Poor bastard.

I'm suprised he didn't last year, but It'd have to be one of the hardest decisions to make considering he's still young and his body is fit enough. I'd try to avoid making a retirement announcment until the bitter end too.

I'm just glad he didn't leave it until he suffered some kind of brain damage, that would have been horrible.

Thank you for the memories Flats.

Here is to a great servant to the game. May his future not be affected by these injuries.

It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa

Well done to Flats, regardless of enough injuries for four men, he still managed to have an excellent State and International career.
If fate had been kinder to him he may well have been one of the greats of our game.
Thanks to him for some great memories and at least to some extent it was his own choice.
Many careers have ended on a stretcher.
