Western Force coach John Mitchell has ruled out playing utility back Matt Giteau at half-back in next year's Super 14 competition.
Giteau made a successful move to the number nine jumper on Australia's recent tour of Europe, starting in the position in all four Test matches in the absence of captain George Gregan.
There has been pressure from some quarters urging Mitchell to use Giteau at scrum half in the lead-up to next year's World Cup in France.
But Mitchell said the 24-year old was signed to play inside centre and insisted that at the moment that was his best position.
"He is not a world class nine, he's a world class 12," he said.
"And at times you've got to understand the rationale of moving a world class 12 into nine where he's not world class.
"We run our race first as Western Force and the Wallabies have got plenty of time to run their race and they've got plenty of time to prepare Matt should he be the person that they select in that position."
