Not a bad effort that - Auckland had a pretty strong roster on the field. Early days.
Tic U coming over for the match Thursday - the Reds sure would appreciate U - we would only annoy u for the frist half - then I guess we would just have to buy U some beer
61 years between Grand Slams Was the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
For u to cry in.....I'd like to have a look at the respective teams (Haven't chased the team yet) Is it safe to assume the Reds were training more than experimenting Tic?
Ie they were looking to have a decent crack and try to get their procedures running under match conditions. In this instance a narrow loss can't be really counted, since you usually won't go away from what you're doing just to win a trial that doesn't mean anything.
Next Thursday should be a cracker!
It looks like Mitch is pretty settled on what he wants to do this year, he's named a pretty good squad for tomorrow night, so we should see pretty much S14 teams doing S14 stuff on Thursday.
I wonder if the trials were scheduled this way to test the teams procedures in travelling more than their on field strategies?
C'mon the
Thanks for the invite fellas - I'll have to pass this time, but you're right, it will be a good trial.
The Reds were having a crack - no doubt, but I guess you temper that with the fact that it is still a trial. Auckland certainly had some class on the paddock too, so it was probably a worthwhile hit out for them.
Only early days but a bit encouraging. Having our first real coach in about 5 years may prove to be a positive thing for the Reds.
Would be good to see all 4 Aussie teams up in the top half this year.
Were you at the game Tic? It seems pretty low scoring finishing at 25-19 with 21 points scored in the last 10 minutes?
Was it 2007 Reds pick and drive stuff, or did they throw some ball around and just nobody scored a lot?
I also liked the comment in the Fox story about the Reds choosing not to kick some penalties in the second half which could have gained them the lead.....Like they need practice kicking at home!
C'mon the
No I wasn't there but got a first hand reliable report. The pick and drive crap from Eddie Jones seems to have been mercifully ditched. Some good Reds attack, I'm told, but handling errors cost some 5 pointers. Latham dropped six (passes) apparently
Overall, I believe the Reds intensity was very good.
Not getting too carried away yet.
I feel conversions in trial matches are time wasting at best...Totally unnecessary unless you are giving the forwards a chance to catch thier breath after a try, otherwise who cares...Kicking practice is for training...
Proudly bought to you by a brewery somewhere....
will berrick barnes travel to perth while hes under an injury cloud, its a fair way to travel for a trial match........
Nah, even if the forwards are knackered, call the scrum and make sure your prop gets a cramp.....then have your lock tie his boot.....You never kick the penalty in a trial do you?
C'mon the
