Having made his Investec Super 14 debut in 2006, the man they call ‘Beef’ was looking forward to a big 2007 season as back-up to Nathan Sharpe and Rudi Vedelago. But, then, in the final training run before the flight to Melbourne and the trial match against the Crusaders, Pat tore a cruciate ligament. Tragically, his season was over before it had begun. Wait, it gets worse. Five months after the resulting knee surgery, Pat slipped and re-tore the ligament leading to a second reconstruction. He is not expected to play in the 2008 Investec Super 14 season. Born in Brisbane, Pat went to school at Marist Brothers Ashgrove and was a member of the Reds Academy before moving west. He’s studying to become a personal trainer and in his spare time, works a few hours a week at the Beach Lifestyle Club in Claremont.
