Shepherd close to new Force deal
ABC - March 13, 2008, 3:35 pm
Western Force full-back Cameron Shepherd says he plans to stay at the club and will sign another contract with the Force within the next fortnight.
Shepherd, who last year received a late call-up to the World Cup squad, did not specify how long his re-negotiated contract would run but says he plans to stay in Western Australia for "at least a few years".
The Force have extra room in their salary cap after sacking Matt Henjak for breaking team-mate Haig Sare's jaw last month.
Shepherd says he wants to remain part of the Force's development.
"The set-up we've got here... it's a great core group of players with a young age and we're slowly starting to develop a positive way of playing and I think its showing on the field," he said.
