The man they call ‘Chicken’ was a prize recruit in 2007, playing in all but two games for the Emirates Western Force last season. Troy was born in Auckland and grew up in the King Country province of New Zealand. His parents moved to Canberra when he was nine but after a few years in the nation’s capital he returned to the Shaky Isles and worked on his grandfather’s farm. At 19, Troy rejoined his parents in Canberra, playing for local club side Wests and the Brumby Runners before linking up with the Waratahs, where he won two Super 14 caps. He’s studying IT systems engineering and likes to fish in his spare time. Troy was one of 14 Emirates Western Force players selected in the Wallabies train-on squad in May, played for Australia A against Tonga, Japan and Fiji.
