The New Zealand Maori defeated New South Wales 20-16 in their clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday night.
In wet and slippery conditions, the Maori scored a try through replacement hooker Luke Mahoney with less than two minutes remaining in the match to clinch victory after the lead had swapped hands regularly in the second half.
In addition to Mahoney's effort, Pehi Te Whare and Thomas Waldrom scored tries while Callum Bruce managed one conversion and one penalty goal.
Ben Jacobs crossed for the Waratahs' only five-pointer, which was converted by Peter Hewat.
Hewat also added three penalty goals.
The Maori had led 7-6 at half-time.

We had our chances (again), Hewat's boot put our noses ahead late in the game. We were at their 5 metre line with only a few minutes left, we managed to lose the ball and the Maori marched it down to score. There was a few yellow cards handed out, but I was chatting away to my GF so I missed what they were for.
4 close loses in a row. Woo-Woo!
(nice Smilie BTW Sage)
Ah well what can you do. It was actually quite tricky for the fans as well as players. They ran out of beer at the SCG!!! So there were many panic-stricken fans running around before they fixed the beer issue.
