Spotted this in the Sydney Newpaper "Daily Telegraph" I tried to find in on the web but havent been successful.
It puts our 15,000+ members in to perspective.
Article written by Steve Mascord. I will paraphrase because I havent got all day to type it out.
Apparently the NRL doesn't keep record on Season Ticket Holders numbers, and if you take a look at these estimated figures you will understand why.
Brisbane Broncos 10,000
Canberra Raiders 3100
Gold Coast Titans 7000
Melbourne Storm 7500
Newcastle Knights 6000
Cronulla Sharks 3017
North Queensland Cowboys 9300
Penrith Panthers 2980
St George Illawarra Dragons 7000
Manly Sea Eagles 2100
Sydney Roosters 3077
Parramatta Eels 4000
New Zealand Warriors 6000
now I will quote from the article:
" To put things in to perspective, Collingwood have almost as many members as the entire NRL Combined."
"And Perth Reds have 1000 members for the Jim Beam Cup"

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Manly & PenrithI thought these were big league clubs...obviously not!
Thats not bad for the Reds considering their playing in the NRL 2nd or 3rd division (NSWRL 2nd division??)
Leagues Clubs are hotels with poker machines and cheap meals and membership costs about six - ten dollars a year. Penrith for example has 55,000 members to their Leagues Club. What I have written about is Season Ticket holders to the Rugby League Football Clubs.
For those of you that dont know - Poker Machines are big boxes that steal your weeks pay while confusing you with flashing lights and pretty noises.

Same with St George Illawarra Laura, i know their not performing very well at the moment but i see plenty of Dragons jerseys over here in Perth.
No one likes Manly. I was born there and i hate them
I'm Union all the way! I never bothered learning about league nor do I have much interest, so thanks for explaining.
So true, they're the team you see mentioned on those T-Shirts:
"I support 2 teams, St George and whoever's playing Manly"
though it's gotta be said, these days I'd take the Sea Eagles over the Bulldogs any day.
Last years grand final was torture... either way, the trophy was going to Manly or (blech) Melbourne
I found myself going for Melbourne (surprised myself after 99), they were the best side all year. It was better then the trophy going to Manly![]()
League is dumb. Alright to throw it on if there is nothing else on tv but that's about it. There is just not much skill involved in it at all. It's basically rugby for the wimpy kids. The ones who can't handle a scrum or ruck. Like in backyard cricket if you get out first ball you get another chance, in league if you get tackled they let you get up and have four more tries.
gustafsl, it's rugby for the kids who were too dumb to understand union....big tough brutes.....AFL is for the wussy kids...
Yes Gustafls and BLR, its not much of a sports and that shows in the low numbers.
In NSW many will 'follow' a club but when it comes down to putting your hard earned readies on the line ... thats a different matter.
Thats what makes the Force's 15,000+ so special.
I'd also be interested in other super franchises membership/season pass holders to see if we are the Most supported team in the comp.
Good luck with that. It's just about impossible to find out any information on the Super 14 teams. I did a search and the best I could come up with was a 2005 article that said the Force had 19000 members already signed up.
You'd have to call every team and talk to about 30 different people before someone would be able to give you a figure.
