Attention lovers of rectangular stadiums everywhere....
Tomorrow's game against the Waratahs is not only going to be a great rugby spectacle, but far and away the biggest crowd we're likely to see this year, and thus out biggest potential pool of petition signatures there to collect.
So far we've collected nearly 5,000 signatures on game days, rego days, the superstore, shops and harassing people at traffic lights (ONYA Jargs!).
To get to 10,000 by the handover scheduled the week of the Brumbies game, we need your help!
Since this is a Saturday game, there's gonna be plenty of time to come down to the Bowlo beforehand, have a few beers, have a snag, and then head out to the streets to support rugby and all non-AFL sports in WA!
Just to re-iterate, here are a few of the key points in favour of the rectangular stadium:
- The Multi Purpose Stadium is unlikely to be converted to a rectangle on a week by week basis
This is because about 10 – 15 metres of turf will need to be lifted to uncover the tracks upon which the stands move.
The WAFC has been have been given priority stadium use to gain their support.
History shows the WAFC will not even let RugbyWA paint full colour lines on the pitch if an AFL game is on the next day.
We need a dedicated rectangular stadium with function, facilities and capacity to cater for ALL other sports codes!
Since we initally launched the petition campaign, more issues have come to light that demonstrate the need for a proper stadium- the proposed extension to the Super 14 season- more games, which improve the financials of a dedicated stadium; incoming CEO Greg Harris has emphasised the need for a proper rectangular ground for theto secure their long term viability in Perth- if we play nice about the new stadium we are going to be stuck there (since all the finanicals are based on us paying rent for a woefully inadequate facility) and rugby and the
will suffer for it!
If you have an hour or two to spare before the game, please join us- you won't miss a minute of the game- we all love our rugby and thetoo much for that!
Cheers,
Swee

Good luck people. Work is the curse of the petitioner (and his good wife). Again.
Be interested to see how the Jargs get on. Can't see the Subi/ Leederville establishments being too supportive.
That was a point i raised some weeks ago. Them not being supportative due to the possibility of them loosing a significant amount of business. I will do it covertly in any of the Subi establishments
Come on guys we really do need a hand it is only a couple of hours of your time. YOU can make a big difference to the results.

I'll be on a planeSomeone txt me the score so I know how much we won by when I land...
I MAY be able to shadow GIGS and help him out. I'll be in Claremont until around 5ish I think and will head over to Subi area directly after. Hopefully I can get at least 1 pint in...

it is the courage to continue that counts.

unless you have a commanding ***** for a boss who wont let me leave an hour early.
instead she says "when youve finished your work you can go" and already i have about 8 hours work for a 7 hour shift.
so, no lunch break for me tommorow. so if i make it to the bowlo i'm gonna need a straight run to the snaggers.
hopefully i'll see you all there beforehand though. bringing some mates, there already rugby fans, but hopefully i can get them more interested so they buy tickets or even memberships.
jargs. you called up 96fm again yet?
jono, are you casual, part time or full time?
Left a message
I might have to ring them tomorrow as i assume the guy who does the drive time slot monday to friday will not be working tomorow
(just getting back to your boss, i'm sure that violates some form of workplace law. It doesn't matter what you are be it full time etc etc, even casuals have rights)
GIGS i'll be around that area too![]()
