i raised this question in another thread, so i thought i would ask it properly of you all.
when the currently planned update to members equity is complete and the force move there.
who would go back to watching rugby at a non rugby specific ground such as the proposed kitchener park site?
poll your answers and discuss.
after watching the trial match at MES earlier this year, i can understand why we need a dedicated rectangular stadia in w.a.
i for one will not be too happy about moving back to another subi
I'd go wherever the rugby went (obviously, since I'm paying for the pathetic view at Subi), but imagine going from a sold-out 25000 seat rectangular venue back to a half empty, faux-rectangle?
I'm with you Swee, but I just don't have the energy to run a petition raising 10K sigs every game so's we can get the thing coverted.
Let's gace it, the "bowl" of Kitchener park is where the gold members will sit, so I'm sorted if it gets turned into a rectange, (It's you Diamond, silver and nickel members who'll miss out) I just don't think the stands'll move for WF, and there'll be a fight for Wallabies. No8 can be in charge for that phase!

By the time the stadium is finally built the technology of that 3D TV that they used at the World Cup or wherever it is should be perfected...that's probably the only option to see a decent game...
im not sure what id do but if i couldnt get seats within 50 metres of the ground then i dont think i would go back.
Poor bastard me will follow the Force where ever they may be.
My thoughts on the whole Kitchener Park thing and the fact that Blind Freddy can see that the 'operable' seating won't be 'operated' for agame are well known, I don't need to air them here (again!)
I reckon it's going to be a huge body blow for Rugby in WA if we were to play 6-7 seasons at an upgraded ME- everyone will be used to the good views afforded by the rectangle and proximity to the sidelines. I personally think the atmosphere would be fantastic there- all the passionsupporters have at Subi, without the 20000 empty seats around them. And then what? Even in rectangular form, Kitchener Park will be half-empty once again, and the nearest person is 15m from the sidelines again (which we're supposed to be happy about, since it's not 30m like Subi??)
Moving from a crap stadium to another crap stadium, I'm inclined to bitch and moan. Moving from a decent rugby venue to a crap stadium and I'll be ready to organise the RIOT with No 8.
A body blow is a bad thing Swee....maybe you meant....boon or something?
Sorry... will work on a re-phrase.. I meant moving out of the rectangular ground BACK into the oval will be a body-blow (i.e. a bad thing). Moving to a rectangular ground would do great things for the game, but alot of that will be undone when they subsequently move out again.
Let's just hope that MES is packed out with paid up members and corporates and Joe Public can't get a ticket. That's where the leverage will come from for a better stadium ASAP.
I would like to maintain the point of whats the point of paying for a partial upgrade to MES for 7-8 years?? They should pay out for a permanent upgrade instead of pissing 35 million up the wall for a temporary solution.
Stupid shortsighted government of this state
government needs to sort out its issues NOW and give us what we want PLEASE![]()
Be There. Be Heard. Be The Force Behind The Force
The government needs to get off it's butt, look at the statistics, and see that, if they did something about it, rugby could go a long way, but AFL can only go so far
