TWF member and reigning Australian individual Sudoku Champion Mick Colliss will bare handedly take on the best the World has to offer in the World Sudoku championships today in Goa, India.
The Australian World Sudoku team being the number 1 ranked nation alphabetically are top of the table prior to the start of the tournament. Team captain Mark Skiffington reportedly said he had no idea of what he was getting himself into but was quite happy to go along for the ride!
The team consists of team captain Skiffington, brothers Hamish and Sandy Sutherland who can't even spell Sudoku never mind play it. Despite all the set backs confidence is running high in the Aussie camp as Australia's most experienced Sudoku players get ready to slug it out with the Worlds best. American captain Nick Baxter (the 2007 world champions) and Skiffington will look to lock horns in a winner take all drink off after the official tournament. A strategy thought up in pub as a back up plan just in case they don't win. Proving that Sudoku players aren't little weedy nerds, but real men.
Mick Colliss spoke to 6PR - Fair go, Sudoku

How does one compete at Sudoku? Is it based on the time it takes to complete the same puzzle?
I reckon SMC could give the boys a run for their money. She's a pretty handy Sudoku doer.![]()
I made Happy sad...
While the results weren't spectacular, the thrill of wearing the green and gold represented the fulfillment of a life long dream. It was tough, uncompromising sudoku at the highest level, played out in the stifling heat of Goa, India for two long days.
With 7 arduous rounds lasting 45 minutes each, and each round containing 8 different puzzles, it was no place for the feint of heart.
Each puzzle was worth a certain amount of points, ranging from 5 to 75. If you completed them all, you got maximum points. Some people went for the hardest puzzles firs to get maximum points but stuffed up and ran out of time, in many cases earning zero. Personally, I went the easy puzzles and managed to finish one in 6 of the 7 rounds. After round one I actually had a couple of scalps, but finished comfortably ranked 89th in the world, which is a lot better than the Poo's current international tennis ranking.
I probably should retire on top.
