now the part of this article i am quoting isnt the start of it, but it struck me as the important part, espeacialy in regards to ownership/operating rights at the new multi-purpose stadium that carps (Kobelke and Fong) and the rest of his wanker mates want to build.
"A source close to the negotiations said the AFL wanted to replicate its stadia-ownership strategy in Sydney. It has a sizeable ownership stake in Melbourne's Telstra Dome, ensuring turnover from premiership matches staged at Docklands is not lost to the code."
League's showcase under threat | The Daily Telegraph
Well let the bastards pay for the MPS in Perth.Save the WA govt and then they can build us a kick arse rectangular stadium.
Forgot this part:
"They effectively control the leasehold over Telstra Dome and it's been their business plan to control stadia around Australia."
it's also on the Foxsports website: AFL proposing to buy Olympic stadium - AFL - Fox Sports
The Australian sporting landscape (as a whole) seems to be in a state of flux right now - will be interesting to see how it all settles down...
I see it as a hostile takeover as the AFL attempts to dominate the sporting landscape
I think its not so much "f@&k all the rest " as F@&k the afl"
ftafl
where's all those guys who wanted a riot ?

Did you watch 60 minutes last night about this exact thing? It looks like AFL is more or less looking to crush the NRL when they are just about at thier weakest....
And guess who's next on the hit list?

AFL - the international game of choice of xenophobes....
It's funny AFL fans think other nations actually give a shit about thier game...the was a video of a ark up on a aussie rules field on an american website that was tagged as 'rugby', I found that hillarious, NO idea what Aussie rules is despite a passing novelty...like Gaelic football and stongman competitions.
the one thing that will always keep rugby union alive in australia is the international aspect of it, the only other team sport which can replicate this is soccer.
International rugby will always ensure that the game stays alive in australia in some respect or another, the league does not have this support, they are the opposite to union, the domestic game in Australia is realistically the only thing keeping internatioal rugby league alive.
To be honest, if I was them and I saw an opportunity, I'd do it too.
They came very close to pulling it off 100 years ago, so this is take-two...
And we need to nurture it down here or that's gonna struggle too. I remember going to a socceroos game at subi a few years ago and only 13 000 people turned up - now they get 50 000 to a game against Qatar...
then again only 30 000 went to see the top african nation play the roos last week..
no doubt though that its growing in popularity and this is the code that should be in the AFL's sights not NRL.
The Socceroos may have suffered by being scheduled the same week as State of Origin and the S14 semi all the in same city as well.
