New Zealand hardman Jerry Collins has retired from International rugby, saying the time is right to move on.
“Actually from today, I am unemployed,'' Collins, 27, told a press conference at New Zealand Rugby Union headquarters in Wellington.
His future plans remain a mystery, perhaps even to him, although there has been conjecture he will move to play in France.

"Remember lads, rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to Giteau."
Maybe his ribs would still have been too sore for him to play in the 3N.
However, I think he'll be heading north to Europe for their next season.
CHEERLEADERS ROCK!!!
Its quite sad to see Collins leave. He has been one of the key players and hardest tacklers in world rugby. I remember reading somewhere that he was voted the man everyone hated to be tackled by cos he just hit so darn hard.
I doubt Collins is leaving because of the money, but then again, its been truly enjoyable watching him play for the All Blacks and the Hurricanes. I wish him all the best in the future and hopefully will get to see him play again someday for the Classic All Blacks.
Sad to see him go but I have no doubt we will see another "star" come through..we always do with them All Blacks..endless supply of stars![]()
Jerry Collins has pulled the pin. One of the most respected and liked men in world Rugby has retired.
It will be interesting to see where if anywhere he pops up again at.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
Big Jerry has been one of my favourite players from when I first saw him playing 7s.
My mates reckon I was an idiot and he was a thug who wouldn't amount to much (Iremind them fairly often). I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him over the years and had the pleasure of meeting him twice. Quite a gentlemen in a down to earth way. He grew up in Porirua (near Wellington) and that is the mean streets!
I believe he is leaving (tonight to play for the Barbaas) because he knows the writing is on the wall, best to get out at close to the summit rather than half way down the other side.
I can see Jerome Kaino or possibly Kerian Read taking over.
Kaino might come close to his 'ardness, Lord Jerry, but not on the same level. Read, no.
I love watching Jerry play, bloody tough and down to earth. Love to see how he goes smashing some soft Frenchies and Pommies day in and day out in Europe. Good luck to him
Looks like he'll be pissing on the pitches of Europe from now on!
I hope you don't mind too much BB but i've merged this with the one on Jerry I posted earlier today...
Please do let me know if this offends you but for the sake of keeping the boards as tidy as possible and discussion in one place i think it would be appropriate for it to be all in one
