Despite losing its licence, the team at SportFM were heartened and extremely grateful to the tens of thousands of listeners who emailed and wrote letters supporting the station's bid for a full time licence.
The tremendous showing of support clearly indicated a strong and loyal listening audience that believed in the station's purpose here in WA.
And it was that strong and vocal voice of the passionate Perth sporting community that helped SportFM gain another Temporary Community Broadcasting Licence on the vacant 101.7FM frequency. That licence was awarded to SportFM on June 20th 2008.
On July 2nd at 5pm, SportFM hit the Perth airwaves first time in 6 months, this time on 101.7FM with a broadcast of Game 3 of the State Of Origin series between NSW & QLD.

a bigto everyone that sent emails through to SportFM/ACMA ...
haven't seen their program yet, but yes i will be happy, something to tune into on a friday night/sunday arvo. Also the district and suburban Cricket shows on a saturday morning and their live coverage of Domestic Cricket. Hopefully they will get some Rugby Union stuff on there in a hurry (if they dont yet)
I think i emailed everyone from SportFM to the federal minister for communications (pre-election and post election 07). Haven't tuned in yet but are they a full time station now??

Any possibility of online streaming audio?
by and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth-george carlin:
They do stream when broadcasting, but are contractually unable to stream super14 games
However, you can 'pay per view' for live Super14, Tri-Nations and other Rugby games via Rugby Clips - Rugby Channel - Internet TV - MediaZone
