if anyone had the same thoughts as me and was thinking why didnt percy play on saturday?
well i have the answer
percy right now is on 98 test caps (well done to him)
he won his first test cap in newlands so for his 100th test cap he wanted to play it where his springbok career started all those tests ago..
so his wish will be granted and he will get his 100th test cap for south africa at newlands
BOKKE“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White
i wasn't actually and while i think it is a great effort to play that many Tests, but sentiment is a pretty poor excuse in the modern professional age. Sure if he was injured it would be understandable, but just so he can have a tear in his eye when he runs out for game 100 at the expense of having your strongest possible team for a TEST against a decent opponent is a cop out.
My two cents

Percy's almost 35 maybe they just thought he was going to be a bit tired after a few weeks of test matches. Besides Conrad Jantjes was in great form during the Super 14 (who could have known he'd play badly) and played particularly well last time he was in Perth.

He was at the hairdressers?

Percy....
Thats all I got.
I'm disappointed the saffas are sinking to Ben Tune level cheap caps. Shame on you Sth Africa, I thought only the stupid Wallabies did that sort of thing.

Very true James, your points are spot on. Jokes on the saffers for being overconfident. I prefer to see incumbant players forced out by form of players trying to pinch their spot instead of the test match schedule not meeting their personal agenda. Did he play in all of the June tests? If so, why did he not sit one of those games out?
