Burgess ruled out of Wallabies
By Iain Payten Burgess ruled out of Wallabies | The Daily Telegraph

THE Wallabies suffered a major setback ahead of their Tri Nations tour of South Africa with star halfback Luke Burgess ruled out with a knee injury.
Burgess suffered a torn meniscus during a training mishap on Wednesday, and after undergoing tests this morning, was informed he would need surgery and will be sidelined for up to six weeks.
This could potentially rule Burgess out for the Bledisloe Cup match against New Zealand in Brisbane on September 13.
And in a major selection shock coach Robbie Deans omitted veteran lock Nathan Sharpe from his 28-man touring party which flies out for Cape Town tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Lote Tuqiri will sidestep surgery on an injured knee and play in South Africa but several Test teammates will hobble on to the plane still under fitness clouds.
So Cordingley will get his final stint as a Wallaby, who will be on the bench, do we have any other options for scrummie?
Sharpie out, is he injured?![]()
omitted means not selected

No:
"Deans said the greater versatility of players like Hugh McMeniman and Dean Mumm, both of whom can also play in the back row, squeezed Sharpe out of the squad."

Sharpie!!! Nooooo!!
ugh Old Man Cordingley. Do we have a back up scrummy?
Be There. Be Heard. Be The Force Behind The Force
I guess its good for development of the squad though, especially with the need for a new scrummie.
Sharpie's wife is pregnant, maybe she is due soon, in which ase I'm glad he was omitted but the team will miss him and it will show.
vickerman is australia's best line out caller and jumper. Sharpe hasnt had the best of games. He's been consistently good, but the line outs against the All Blacks prob brought his downfall. But i think Horwill might be injured, so maybe Sharpe might get a late call in.
WOOHOOO!!! Awesome news about Sharpe.
Shame about Burgo though.
4 Horwill/White Mummba
5 Vicks
6 Rocky/MMM
Bench: White Mummba, and if Rocky and Horwill are both unavailable then Brown
let Vickerman have the gold jersey before he departs overseas
Be There. Be Heard. Be The Force Behind The Force
And he could well come back.
He played this year in oz and as such qualifies to play for the Wallabies. Would you like to also drop Rocky, maybe Waugh could play at 6...
Plus, if you start dropping players cause they're moving next year, you create an environment when they leave making announcements till the last second.
too many tahs. we will lose this for sure. thank goodness burgess is out.
G
Needs more Tahs, only 50%. I reckon Deans will see the blue light and select 12 Tahs in the starting 22.

May as well use them while we have got them and get the most out of them. Sounds a tad harsh but if they have the skill we need why not use it?
I reckon:
(original - replacement/bench)
4. Horwill (injured) - Mumm
5. Sharpe (omitted) - McMeniman
6. Elsom (injured) - Vickerman
7. Smith - /Brown
8. Palu - /Brown
9. Burgess (injured) - Cordingley/Sheehan
