A new Western Force training facility has been thrown into doubt by a multimillion-dollar blowout - because the Government was to be built on a contaminated dump.
The new rugby HQ was earmarked for the former Brockway tip, but The Sunday Times has been told estimates for remedial work to clear the soil have soared from $1.5 million to $10 million.
The site is adjacent to AK Reserve in Mt Claremont where new athletic and basketball stadium are being built to replace Perry Lakes. The Force and RugbyWA still operates from Perry Lakes....

It has already been predicted that a $30 million upgrade of Members will start next year to provide a much-need rectangular ground for rugby union.
The Town of Vincent has a feasibility plan that would increase stadium seating by 7000 to 25,000 and upgrade corporate facilities from 11 to 30 suites

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
Don't want the lads playing there - what was there that it cost $10 million to fix ... this will really upset Rugby Wa's plan to move to a new place

no training ground?
where will the alternate site be? MES?
No training ground/ no administration / no weights/ no continuity for the lads - their whole operation will be messed around for a couple of years while they sort out a new place - not good for finals - really really upset by this

The way the election is going carpenter wont be in, and Barnett has promised a stadium upgrade for rugby and soccer - and the new subi oval is not an option...
I thought in the article it said if the floreat site couldn't be done on budget they'd find an alternate site.
a new rugby park with 35000 seats
from my reading of the last bit of that article, MES is a temporary home from 2010 until whenever Subiaco Oval v2 is ready for us to move to and continue financially backing WAFC/etc.

Compare this with the outcry over the Eagles being 'homeless' in 2014.... bah! The whole RugbyWA setup has to be gone by next year, but there's nowhere to go!
I blame the new Liberal Government for this.
what happens to all these plans that Carpenter has put in for Subi Oval v2 to start in 2012 (or later) are they put on the scrap heap if the Libs get in or is there news that lib are continuing with these plans ?
Actually, the government of WA from now on Benny, will have to look after the rural electorates. 60,000 seat stadia will now be built in Mukinbudin, Leonora and Koolianobbin.
We all voted for it.
