I was over seeing AAC play at fullback a long time ago.
His first half against england was dreadful. And the second half well i cant remember him doing much except score a try mickey mouse could have scored .
How much longer must we persist??He seems to be ARU's golden boy because they seem to want to put him anywhere in the 22 even if he's out of position.
What are the alternatives they you would like see slot in at 15? Is shepherd fit again??? At least give drew mitchell a decent crack. FFS!!!
DISCUSS!
Agreed.
Drew is more useful on the wing - Lote replacement - I like AAC - he is such a little boy but he finds the line - Sheps will be better soon

Hm. It's interesting, this debate. I'll stir the fire by saying that I reckon AAC is the best option avaliable RIGHT NOW (No offense Drew). His kicking game is improving. However he is irrational and unpredictable and I believe that I was one of the first to shout about his removal, but the boy was thrown in the deep end a bit and has shown a mild amount of skill. Nothing near our amazing Cameron and MILES behind Latham, but he's progressing toward the stable stage.
Now I think most people know about my bias here, but even I know that the main thing AAC has over Drew is the kicking game. Drew is limited to his one foot and it's just not good enough for a fullback (I say that in the nicest way possible, honest). Drew plays a very involved kind of game of rugby, I think, anyway, I don't think he natural plays the game of a fullback. He's just such a winger! His speed is ahead of AAC and (tries to think of what else wingers do...) hehe. Their defense is pretty equal, but I think Drew understands the position defensively (defensivly? defenseivily? def...) better, AAC has positioned himself incorrectly on more than one occasion, example the try against the Italians. PLUS we need a decent bloke at 11, and Drew seems to be handling that very very well
(Bias back again)
AAC isn't the goods, but he is the best we've got.
When Cameron is fit again, AAC will vanish. Bench spot competition with Tahu is what he will be looking at. If Stirling hangs around for ages and ages then he probably won't even get the bench. He's a good bench player though, covers a whole heap of positions. But he's not super-duper talented in any of them.
CAMERON! You are hereby forbidden from injuring that leg, or the other one for that matter, EVER again. You hear me? Good. No sore legs any more.
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Drew's stats are about a try a game for the Wallabies 14 out 18 appearances - not a bad batting average - Deans will help AAC position better - got to admit he is heaps better than he was 6 months ago.
Nothing replaces experience - bet Drew could learn how to kick if he wanted - still reckon his unpredictable darts and defence say WING

That's what I was trying to say (except you summed it up in a sentence and it took me a lot more) AAC has improved so much, and that time he has had with Robbie he has over Drew. He's the best we have (as MUCH as it pains me to say it)
And a bloody good one at that!![]()

I have to ask whether you guys were watching the same game on satdee nite?
And kicking game!!! WHAT KICKING GAME?!?!?!?!?!Im sick of seeing his ineffective kick and chases(lack of chasing) or little inneffective chips. Drew showed him how a kick and chase is done and managed to get us a penalty inside the poms 22 because of it.
At this stage id rather see one of the young flyhalves serve a bit of time at fullback or god forbid mark gerrard at least until shepherd is back.
Two Dads is a hack, give Mitchell a reasonable chance.
Lock Topic
Haij, I know he isn't the goods yet and I fully agree it's just not good enough, but it's what we have. JOC will come off the bench during the French game and replace AAC, because he is playing there exclusively.
And also with the kicks, at least not every single kick is being flung down the opposition15's throat any more. He is thinking better and Drew was acting like a sidekick a fair amount of the time, AAC would catch and then throw it on to Drew for him to kick. Bring back Cam, but AAC is what we have at the moment.
Dear God I can't believe I'm defending AAC. How the world has changed...

James O Connor anyone???????At this stage id rather see one of the young flyhalves serve a bit of time at fullback or god forbid mark gerrard at least until shepherd is back.

Latham didn't become great in on season...it takes time Adam Ashley-Cooper has asked to be a specialist and not a utility as previous years. He should stay for the rest of the tour. Drew Mitchell is doing a great job on the wing but in reality the back three work together, they all can't be forward at one time especially when playing a quick back three like the English boys last weekend. Next year Cameron Shepherd can challenge for the Wallabies fullback spot, for now he is best left to heal and become strong for the Force next year. Preseason will be over in no time.
Keep two-dads, there's not other option (unless you'd like to see Lote play fullback)
James O'Connor is the mooted replacement fullback for this tour, and I would hope to see him get a run from the bench in one of the remaining matches (maybe France's a big ask for the lad though)
In absence of anyone adequate. Ashley-Cooper will have to do!

Ashley Cooper is more than adequate.... JOC will perhaps get a wing spot late in Wales or against the Barbarians but not as Fullback he is far too green…
Strangely the Coach doesn't think so.

at the end of the day, AAC has being pretty solid at fullback, he is definetly not a defensive liability, and whilst his up and under kicks are poor, im assuming it would be a tactic that Deans has bestowed upon him since he has being doing it all season for the Wallabies.
He hasnt let any tries through from what i can remember, and his quite good in the cover defence, he seems safe under the high ball(except for once on the weekend) and he seems to run good lines in attack.
Whilst not spectacular, he is doing the job, and right now thats what the Wallabies need most. Latham's first dozen or so games for the Wallabies were highlighted by poor choices and big mistakes, it takes a player a long time to be a accomplished fullback and right now he is the best person for the job.
