The Western Force board have decided to move to Members equity from 2010.
With plummeting member numbers and a rent bill pushing $2,000,000 a year (The move will cost the Western Australian Football Commission $1,900,000 a year in lost rent) Subiaco oval is no longer a viable venue for Super14 rugby in Western Australia.
A deal has yet to be struck with Town of Vincent and Allia Holdings.
The seating capacity of MES is to be increased to 21,000 together with transportable corporate boxes and 2 big screens.
Existing individual and corporate members will get priority for seats / suites for 2010 and 2011.
John O'Neill will be in Perth next month to lobby the government over its 2004 promise a new stand at MES.

a) Sucked in WAFC, bye-bye $2 million bucks... couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people
OK, now that's out of the way...
Hope the Force havent' shot themselves in the foot by going too early with this- since they've said they're on the move, the government might be tempted into inaction (OK, this is a highly likely outcome regardless, I grant you).
Now to the really important question- who lives near there and has a big enough backyard to host the pre-game function?
See you all at the farewell Subi 2009 campaign!
$1,900,000 = $271,428 per game or almost $68,000 per hour.
Can we please get a scan of the article posted?
Maybe the WAFC will provide Gits with a third party sponship deal of $1.9M a season to keep the force at Subi![]()
It's not ideal and way less than we were hoping. It's nothing unexpected though, just economic reality sinking in. At last. Hopefully this will boost membership renewals for 2009 as people realise the implications for seating from 2010. That may be the thinking for going early, Swee.
Now to find out how to buy shares in the Brisbane Hotel.

I'm sure we will be able to have buses to and fromand bowlo if that's what the TWFers want.
If everyone buys a few more tickets in the jumper raffle, we could get our own bus and Happy could drive it!

about 4000 on this time last year if memory is correct - they managed 17,000 by season start though

and if any Multi-Purpose stadium goes ahead down the track (I read an article in yesterdays paper that the new stadium may be defered a few years) the WAFC's demands to "financial compensation/protection" won't have a leg to stand on...................not that it did before

Blow for stadium as rugby set to quit Subi
20th December 2008, 10:30 WST
Western Force are set to move from Subiaco Oval to Members Equity Stadium in 2010 in a move that will almost certainly kill any last hope of the State Government spending $1.1 billion on a multipurpose arena at Kitchener Park.
The decision by the Super 14 rugby club will cost the WA Football Commission up to $1.9 million a year in lost rent. But the saving will be a financial lifeline for the Force, which has seen its membership slump.[/URL]
Get out of Subi…Why support the oval field…investing your $ & future with a more suitable home ground especially one like MES. It will add culture and growth to the Force club… Location looks good near CBD and rail.
The authorities will invest in the end invest in MES. Hopefully in the near future we will again have a ARC style comp which could use the home ground as well…I like to come west and see a game there one day…
