TWF Awards Night!
From the barren plains of Julia Creek to the sun baked flats of Nudgee College, Richard Brown has progressed his game to the stadiums of the world and his award winning performance in the 2008 Super 14 led to his being selected the Wallabies Squad in 2008 where his winning for continued with a passion.
From all of us at TWF we'd like to congratulate Richard on winning this fine award and on really stepping up and having a fantastic season with the Force and the Wallabies this year.
All members and visitors to TWF are invited to help us celebrate Brownies achievements of the past year at J.B. O'Reilly's on this coming Thursday 15th January 2009 from 6:30pm onwards. Joining Richard at JB's will be AJ "You Complete Me" Whalley. Don't be suprised if you see other Western Force luminaries mingling in the crowd also.
If last year is anything to go by, it is a fantastic night with plenty of opportunity to have a chat with your favourite players and take advantage of a photo or autograph opportunity.

Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
All TWF get togethers are good - but Brownie and AJ were excellent guests.
What was remembered:
Tif called us into the bar for the presentation - Happened to be following Brown in. Poor man went beetroot as he saw TDevils video - hope that gets posted really excellent tribute to our man of the night. Anyways at the end of the video Brown was called to the stage for a few questions (anyone who wishes can correct this)
Tif - Favourite memory of the season past
Brown - Auckland - the games the players remember and treasure and the ones were we were down - at half time the coach gave us a "rev up" and we went on to win.
Tif - Life after rugby
Brown - Can't handle the 9-5 office thing back to the farm
Tif - If you were called to the BaaBaa's what socks would you wear?
Brown - Cottlesloe
Tif - You are off contract with the Force this year what are your plans
Brown - Honestly not given it much thought - don't even have a manager - really to busy getting ready for the season ahead.
Tif - How did you get the call up to play for the Wallabies
Brown - was invited into the squad for training and didn't think I would get a call up- so I only took one pair of boots.
One morning Deans came and tapped me on the shoulder while I was eating my Weetbix - he looked so serious and I was still munching my breakfast and trying to remember what I had done wrong. Outside Jim was there as well and Deans said your're playing next week. Breakfast went up then down - and I just said thanks and walked away - One of the best weeks of my life - whole thing was a whirl.
Brownie was quiet a good speaker and his SOH really shone through - this write up probably does not do justice to how funny and down to earth he was on the night.

Good write up TQ1... missed the bit where Slomo talked us through his winning entry in the jersey photo comp (so vivid, was like we were there).
Good to see the boys come down and 'press the flesh'- in some cases a little more literally than they may have expected.
Thanks TQ1 - appreciate the effort.
I hope TDevil is uploading the videoclip to youtube.
Maybe we should send one to Browny folks - so they can tease him with it as well.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Was good to see john mitchel there too just fyi!
"Believe in the best, think your best, study your best, have a goal for your best, never be satisfied with less than your best, try your best, and in the long run things will turn out for the best."
Yeap - poor Brown and AJ were incredibly patient with us - they must have done a 1/2 hour photo shoot at the end.

Well done guys - sorry I was not able to get there. I went to the Sponsors thing & had a brief but really good talk with Coach Mitch. Drew, Shep, Bam Bam, Josh V, Dave Pusey, Darryl Halligan were there. Some other players that elude my ever-leaking memory as well... Kieren Longbottom was also there incognito. Met up with other sponsors my company deals with. We had to shmooze with them for far too long and it was very late when I could extract myself - too knackered to get to.
Some photos of the sponsors' evening are in the gallery if you want to see.
