Apparently in a recent development Len Buckridge owner of BGC has offered to do the work for cost price - estimated to to be about $40m rather than the possible $75m. Quite a saving. How much were the state govt prepared to tip in when the proposal for the Force was put together for ME's redevlopment? and are they prepeared to honour this promise? On the ABC today Glen Mitchell seems to be of the opinion that the Force might lose there license after next year and it will go to Mel - well being an AFL fan I doubt he has a clue about how important the Force are to the ARU - it's TV negotations in providing a seemless evening of Rugby across NZ, Aus and SA. All I want is a decent stadium for a world class competition that provides more promotion for WA across the world than the AFL or Glory games ever will do - but no the govt don't think of the bigger picture, but would rather let things go over to Melb than develop WA facilities for the whole community.
