New Zealand 22 France 27
France defied New Zealand's stellar record in rugby matches at Carisbrook to upset the All Blacks 27-22 in the first of two Tests on Saturday night.
The defeat was only the fifth in 36 Tests for the All Blacks at Carisbrook.
Both sides had top players missing, France due to last week's Top 14 domestic final, and New Zealand because of a series of injuries that resulted in only half the first-choice players taking the field.
France finished with three treis to two.
The teams meet again next Saturday in Wellington.
