Nedlands v Perth
A recently resurgent Perth face late first round bolters Nedlands this week. Perth will, as usual, have horrific injury problems going into the game which will be mentioned in the game previews but will not be raised again unless Perth loses. Neddies will be showcasing their Force ring in Fairbrother and must fancy their chances after their awesome mauling of the kiddies from Wests last weekend. Perth by 5 points provided the boys lay off the piss on Friday night.
Kalamunda v Wanneroo
Now this will be a game. If Elwee was happy to have won six games out of nine last week he'll no doubt be ectatic to win six out of ten this week. Kala have found some big bucks in the last few weeks (did the defaulting sponsor finally pay up?) and have spent up big on half a dozen humungous forwards. Once again it will be KK's one man band against Kala, but Kala will prevail by 10 points. Must say I'd love to have KK in my team. Maybe next year.
University v Palmyra
University have the home ground advantage and Palmyra may be resting the majority of their forwards. Could be close, Uni by 3 points or a blowout, Palmyra by 30.
Rockingham v Associates
Associate, last year's young fresh team, which finished fifth from the top, should have few problems overrunning a dour, undermanned Rocky, despite Soaks also finishing fifth last last year. Soaks by 15 points.
Cottesloe v Wests/Subiaco
Will Wests field a team? I predict 25 to 0 to Cottesloe, Wests second lowest losing margin of the year.
Yes, some bastard did upset me today.
geez word does get around quick doesn't it...
You would not have a clue Fulvio, Kala hasn't bought any players
That's not what my spies told me last week, but you should know Kala, so I'll take your word for it. One less rumour going around.
Good to see Kala getting back into it, anyway.
FS - how can we not be happy if we made progress from last year as we've won 5 in the 1st round last year and 6 this year. We are still 3rd and the good thing is we haven't played our best rugby yet. Remember I said it is about developing rugby in Perth and making progress as a club - not interested to buy a premiership and come last the next year mate! That doesn't do anything for our rugby in this state. That is why I've got respect for clubs like Neddies and Soakes as they are consistently bringing good players through the ranks although they recruit to fill holes as all other clubs. Anyway good luck you guys have a good team - at least for this year!lol
Apparently Neddies claim that they did NOT recruit players this year...
No, you need money for that. Ever heard about Firepower?
Clubs that make a virtue out of necessity just make me laugh.
When they have the money they buy everything that moves.
They are pretty smart about it though, through my observations they let other clubs import the players over and then after the players have played their season they wriggle their way in their with a healthy looking offer and snatch up these players who haven't developed as much loyalty as a seasoned player... But on the odd occasion they do make a pitch at loyal club members and this makes them look really stupid! Heck I still laugh about Soaks making an attempt to obtain the services of one of the Maori props from our 07 premiership team - everyone knows Soaks have never appreciated players of Maori or Islander descent (they even advertised this fact many years ago) but obviously their views have changed now...
you really are a sht stirrer, aren't you FS?
You call it shit stirring Ecky.
I call it encouraging a free ranging discussion, at an elevated cerebral level, about significant rugby related issues.
I'm deeply offended that you chose to place such a mean spirited interpretation on my motives.
On the other hand, you could be right.
Final Four at the end of round 18
Paly
Wanneroo
Soaks
Kala
Here's my prediction for the rest of the year.
Paly: to die in the ass, those islanders can get homesick, I'm predicting a mass exodus back to their homelands. Even if they do hang around they will fold in the finals.
Basyies: Ain't what they used to be but don't tell them that. Will miss out on the finals and will result in an epic end of season punch up.
Kala: Coming strong, would not want to play them in the second round
Soaks: Under the guidance of a tool they will get smashed in the finals
Neddies: Like Kala will prove to be difficult to play in the second round
Wanneroo: Same as Paly
Grand Final: Kala v Wanneroo
