On Wenesday the 16th August Yamaha Jubilo, one of the prominent Japanese corporate teams, boasting several former New Zealand and other non- Japanese internationals in its ranks as well as a number of Japan's World Cup prospects, will take on a Force Academy selection.
The Academy team will contain not only some outstanding members of the nascient academy itself, but is expected to also include some of the Force squad players and some of the very exciting emerging club stars who are being considered for inclusion in next year's Force program . The Academy team was selected yesterday but will not be announced until later today.
Of particular concern of course in the local club scene, with the finals to commence this weekend, is the number of top four club players who may be unavailable for the weekend's fixtures because of the Yamaha game. This includes Palmyra's James Stanners, Nems Momo and Jerry Viriki, West- Subiaco's Kiti Fuluna and Greg Plimmer, Nedlands' Haig Sare, Will Brock and possibly Dan Bailey and Associates' Matt Dreyer and Hugh Norcross.
Wednesday's fixture will kick off at 7pm. under lights at Palmyra's picturesque grounds at Tompkins Park Alfred Cove. The Club's Bars will be open and the canteen will be operating. An additional temporary bar will be installed on the grandstand area to accomodate patrons.
The visitor's Entourage, local players visiting Dignitaries and Force and RugbyWA officials will be dined and entertained in Palmyra's function rooms after the game and supporters are invited to stay on aftewards to mingle with the Guests.
Entry to the game is free and there will be ample on reserve parking courtesy of the generous cooperation of the Melville City Council. All Reserve parking will be monitored and controlled by Palmyra staff on the eastern (Dunkley Avenue) side of the club rooms.
All patrons are reminded that it is an offence to bring any liquor onto the grounds. Liqour may be purchased on site and consumed in the designated Licensed Areas. Please avoid unpleasantness and embarrassment to yourselves as police will be monitoring the event.

I see you got the report you were after Burgs. Have you seen the Gallery's from last weekend??
Still digging through to find the reports from the weekend mate, but the photos look great!
Very dirty that you fellas had all the fun without me though
I notice that there was at least one "proper" tv type camera there, I wonder where that footage would have ended up?

Just found this on Rugby Heaven!
"....As the Western Force have discovered, it is always important to have some notable players in your back-up staff. Japanese club Yamaha Jubilo has been in Perth for a few games, and on Wednesday night the visitors' B team played a Rugby WA Development side. At the last minute one of the development players had to withdraw, prompting the Force's community rugby manager and former Wallaby, Mitch Hardy, to sit on the bench. Hardy came on for the last eight minutes at fullback, and managed to last the distance...."
Great stuff Mitch!!!
I'm sure the jersey has been framed by now![]()

I was speaking to the camera man. He works for Sports Recording Services and you can call their HQ and purchase copies of the games.
I would love to see these games and even went as far as trying to register on their site......no cigar, hope others have more luck than me
Also didn't see any library listing for WA matches but maybe they are showing them publicly? www.sportsrecordingservices.com.au
