The annual Bloody Slow Cup will be played this Saturday in the Pilbara centre of Newman, as the town and rugby combine to support Police Legacy.
Emirates Western Force lock Richard Stanford and Community Rugby Manager Matt Tink will lead the RugbyWA team attending the event. RugbyWA is a proud supporter of the event that is staged in remembrance of the four Police Officers who were killed in an air crash in 2001 whilst on duty. The event raises valuable funds for Police Legacy with the money raised going to families and partners of Police Officers killed in the line of duty.
RugbyWA's Smarter Than Smoking Development Staff have been involved in a range of activities during the week leading into the event, including visiting remote Indigenous Communities to run rugby activities sessions, visiting the remote mine site of Yandi to run a coaching session, primary and high school development sessions, sponsor commitments, community fundraising, coach education, Walla Carnival & officiating for numerous games including the main game on Saturday evening.
There will be attending the 2009 Remembrance Ceremony at 8am on Saturday 24 at the Newman crash site. The game, contested by locals representing Australia and New Zealand will be played under lights later in the day.
