just learned that the 6 nations will be shown by ESPN this year.
first game on feb 6th.
main point is - apparently, the only live games will be on ESPN HD with 'encore screenings' on ESPN.
so unless you have the HD package, you will be subject to replays, when and where it suits the ESPN controllers ( so long as it does'nt clash with lingerie NFL of course).
i have been monitoring the sports channels since HD came in and so far, it seems as though all fox1/fox2 etc games are replicated on their respected HD channels.
this is the first time i have noticed a difference, which, if you want to watch the 6 nations live, will force you to upgrade to the whole HD package.
if i read my foxtel guide correctly, the upgrade to HD is only possible if you have the IQ2 set anyway.
so it looks like ordinary SD foxtel subscribers will not be able to watch the games live at all!
i would appreciate thoughts on this as i will be bringing this to the attention of foxtel, ESPN & australian gov.
Just get Setanta Sports and stuff ESPN.
A least this way you get the Magners League, Guinness Premiership plus all live Six Nations games as well.
ESPN which in standard def can be a free option when you sign up shows Heineken Cup rugby, well two matches a week when its on and thats all for rugby. The bonus is you get a really annoying American commentator trying to fill in the gaps until the NH commentators kick in.
Eurosport (new free channel shows French Top 14 and the Italian League).
PS: I'm putting in a vote for Lingerie Rugby at the next Olympics.
"lingerie NFL"Gerry!!! WTF!!!

Lets hope they are at sensible times - hmm I smell another VBook coming

I'd be more likely to watch a replay at a sensible time then to stay up and watch a game that I don't really care about live
Bingo
Why they did that I have no idea. Live on the East Coast and delayed into Perth?
Good thing I have Foxtel![]()
Pretty fair chance that if you have ESPN then you have some way of recording it too though hey? Can soon make a replay shown at a reasonable hour then...

Or perhaps even a video recorder?
Or have they all been chucked out nowdays?
