In the South West Rugby Union Grand Final the Margaret River Gropers fell at the last hurdle and lost by the narrowest of margins in the Grand Final.
The Dungbeetles spend most of the openiing stanza camped inside the Gropers 22. However they were unable to convert pressure into points and a 60m run away try by the Gropers Kacko Stove saw the gropers go into half time with a 7-0 lead.
Two penalities and the sure boot of Andre Schonfeldt saw the Gropers extend their lead to 13-0.
But a series of infringements saw the Dungbeetles come back with 2 tries.
The gropers kicked another penalty late in the second half and with the score 16-10 the Margaret River supporters were nervously looking at the clock.
Dunsborough mounted an attack within their own 22 and with a number of dubious passages of play scored in the corner.
That bought the Dunsborough kicker up for the conversion and even though he had not landed a kick all day was able to slot over the conversion for Dunsborough Dungbeetles victory 17-16.
