Waratahs want action over biting claim
New South Wales will wait to see if Queensland's Adam Byrnes is cited by SANZAR before it decides whether to take action over a biting allegation involving the Reds lock.
Byrnes' Waratahs counterpart Will Caldwell made an on-field accusation that he had been bitten on the finger midway through the first half of the visitors' 30-28 win in their Super 14 opener at Lang Park on Saturday night.
Caldwell informed referee Craig Joubert, who warned Byrnes and Reds captain James Horwill that the alleged behaviour was "completely unacceptable".
Australia's Super 14 citing commissioner Scott Nowland, in consultation with his New Zealand and South African counterparts, has 24 hours to decide whether the matter should be referred to a SANZAR judicial hearing....................
