Force hoping James O'Connor proves difference in showdown with Stormers
April 02, 2010
Western Force welcome back Wallabies David Pocock and Richard Brown but it's the return of James O'Connor to fullback that could prove a secret weapon against the Stormers.
Pocock, who is back after a six-week layoff with a thumb injury, said O'Connor's move from No. 12 to No. 15 could prove decisive against arguably the form team of the competition.
The South Africans have lost just one match this year and sit second on the ladder behind the Bulls. They also possess the best defence in the competition.
"The Stormers have a very strong kick-chase game and don't let you into their territory much at all," Pocock said.
"It is a big focus for us to secure that kicked ball and do something with it. We all know how exciting 'Rabbit' can be, so we have to work hard to seize those moments."
Pocock said he was a "frustrated" onlooker as the Force crashed to six straight losses but believed the side had improved dramatically in recent weeks. They lost narrowly to both New South Wales and the Bulls.
"Our defence has been very good but we've shot ourselves in the foot in attack," Pocock said.
"We have to be better in that area and give it a shot. If I can cause some trouble at the breakdown, who knows what can happen?"
