Wallabies to appeal Cooper ban
July 26, 2010 - 4:36pm
Story by: AAP
The Wallabies are appealing Quade Cooper's suspension
The Qantas Wallabies will appeal Quade Cooper's two-match ban ahead of their Bundaberg Red Tri-Nations Rugby Union clash with New Zealand in Melbourne on Saturday night.
The Australians lodged an appeal on Monday, which is likely to be heard by phone hook-up in Sydney on Wednesday.
It will be heard by three judicial officers, one from each Tri-Nations country.
The Wallabies wouldn't reveal any details but it's believed they will appeal against the severity of Cooper's two-match ban, which was comparatively heavier than those handed out for similar offences by two South African players.
The five-eighth was rubbed out of the match against the All Blacks in Melbourne and the following week in Christchurch for a dangerous tackle on Morne Steyne during Australia's 30-13 win over the Springboks in Brisbane last Saturday.

it was always going to be... Cooper is a anything can happen player, get use to it Wallabies supporters... He has signal handedly blown Australia's chances of a Bledisloe cup win this year... Deans invested all his flyhalf time in Cooper... Lets hope he has a strong second half trinations...
It's a bit rich really. Giteau was lucky not to get a suspension for a pretty nasty hit on an airbourne Fourie du Preez last year.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
