If you watching Colin I know some people who can help you spend that and I know they wont waste it will we guys. Colin you will get a good return for ya money. The interest will be 20.000 happy people and that will rise. Hand over the Cash Now or you wont be there in 2 yrs
The windfall has allowed the Government to set aside $100 million to be placed in a trust account to build a new children's hospital.
That money will be in addition to the $350 million earmarked for the hospital from increased royalty payments for iron ore fines under the deal struck between the Government, BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto earlier this year.
Hard to argue about a stadium when they keep on building much needed Hospitals.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
Barney Rubble.............Richard Courts love child. Dont hold your breath in my humble opinion.
the punters friend..... stick with me and you will be wearing
Yes I wont argue over hospitals but we were promised some money for a stadium back in 2004 when we got the chance to field a team and have rugby here in WA. ( short memory pollies ) Well I know Terry wont be getting my vote and next time he is out here speaking he will get another bashing from me.
why dont we claim east Perth a regional area & thus the upgrade can be financed by royalties for regions petty cash jar
easy really
I will. These clowns have been posting surpluses for years, right back to Gallop, but every time there is a suggestion some of it gets spent the response is always the same - "Oh, but we can get X childrens hospitals for that". We probably could, but still haven't, so in the meantime where has all the money gone? Given how crap the facilities are in this city, you'd think we'd have a kids hospital in each suburb.
We absolutely should have good kids hospitals, along with a whole bunch of other good things. Instead we have none of the above, just a load of divide and conquer.
whats the use of new hospitals without having Doctors & nurses to staff them?
Yes Gunny we are some 800 nurses and a couple of hundred doctors short to maintain staffing levels.
The hospitals have plenty of beds and money just no staff to run them.
These idiots on the hill could not run a pi$$ up in a brewery with a handful of fifties![]()
The amount of Medical University places at UWA and Notre Dame has dramatically increased in the last 6 years. From a few years ago it was 137 approx at UWA, now it’s nearly 300 approx.
Small problem is there are limited places to put them and these students when graduated need a tertiary hospital to begin their internship. The other issue is there are not enough specialist training places (registrars) available for the residents currently in the tertiary hospitals to go into. Plenty of young doctors not enough hospitals and not enough senior doctors/specialists to train them. So the short is we need more hospitals and senior staff members to train our influx of young doctors.
Meanwhile the bush is receiving the much needed infrastructure upgrades/repairs that have been severely lacking in times gone by. For example a town that has nearly tripled in population in the last 8 years still has the same hospital from 30 years ago and the satellite towns around its hospitals have all but closed (i.e. no doctors on the premises).
I would love for the stadium to go ahead, and from the media reports it supposedly will all be it very slowly and with no confirmed time line.
