It will be a good line up. Its very early so we can only vaguely guess at the moment.
1. Dunning
2. Charles
3. Fairbrother
4. Sharpe
5. Wykes
6. Hodgeson
7. Pocock
8. McCalman
9. Stannard
10. Ripia
11. Smith*
12. Fairbanks
13. Inman
14. Cummins
15. JOC
The backline can be chopped and changed with those players who are all pretty versatile. We could probably put JOC at 13 to bring Sheps into the team at 15. Or if Fairbanks can play 13 (never seen him there though), then Stanners can come into 12 and JOC to fullback. No matter how you put them, they look decent. So i'm sure the coaches will find the best mix in the end.
If we can get away with McCalman at 5 and Brown at 8, while moving Wykes to the bench that would probably work better. Depends on the scrum and line out though.
On RugbyWA players profiles they have JOC at Fullback and Sheps at Winger/Fullback
And yes I missed David Smith
Whats the story with Alfi Mafi- did he end up passing the hamstring check-up? I would guess not if David Smith was on the radar (although to be honest I'd take a fit and healthy Mafi just to leave the marquee spot open). Otherwise if Mafi was on board I'd definitely look at playing JO'C as a 15/back up 10. We'd have some fairly flash players out wide already.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

I reckon the force should run a fast team like that and just steamroll over everyone.
Why is everyone picking Dunning to start? Last season he struggled off the bench and I dont think he showed anything during the Shute Shield to suggest he would be any better this year.
Id go with
Cowen
Charles
Fairbrother
Hocking
Sharpe
Hodgson
Pocock
McCalman
Sheehan
Ripia
Smith
OConnor
Inman
Cummins
Shepherd
Whittaker
Longbottom
Wykes
Brown
Stannard
Fairbanks
Staniforth
If everyone was fully fit (which they never will be).
Hocking needs to start at 4 for me. We need someone to step up as the next lineout leader when Sharpe goes, and Wykes is more a converted backrow player.
Id like to see OConnor at 12, especially with someone like Ripia at 10. OConnor will add the spark that Ripia hasnt got. Alternatively, he could do that from 15, in which case Spanner to 12 and Cummins to the bench.
I hate seeing someone of Browns ability on the bench, but we have 4 international quality backrowers, and Brown is the most versatile of the lot. He can cover 6, 7 and 8, and the impact he has offered the Wallabies off of the bench has been huge. Get him on at the 50 min mark and we will get a lot of ball in the last 30 mins of a game.
i didnt think id see the day where Spanner was being left out of the starting lineup
i still rate him as our best inside centre...

Dellit
willing to give Dellit a bench spot given the performances ive seen in the shute.. he has talent! Fairbanks is good injury cover for most backline positions as is Barto.. i dont think Jenkins will get a game this year unless we get nailed with injuries again and despite what people say about Dunning i still think he is a starter, certainly a better option than Cowan playing out of position..
im just so happy to see genuine depth everywhere except lock where we at least have passable options.. BRING IT!

"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
I couldn’t agree more Dunning was a liability last year when he came off the bench so having him as a starting player defies belief. Hopefully he has improved from last year but I can’t see him starting a match with other props fully fit. Off the bench considering he can play (fill in) on both sides of the scrum.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
Dunning was playing with a concussion for most of last season - he picked it up in the first game and kept it from the trainers. I reckon he looked at the number of injuries we had and thought he wouldn't add to the woes. However, he definately wasn't right for the first half of the season. Once he had a week off he recovered and improved. I'm not going to bash him for playing hurt when we had injury problems all over the park.
Didn’t know anything about any injury, if that’s the case then I wouldn’t bash him either for early poor form.
I do remember him arguing with a ref after receiving another scrum penalty and getting told off by sharpie, I think it was whilst in the shaky isle against the Blues so later on in the season. Arguing with the ref after giving away multiple penalties you would have to be suffering from a concussion.

Matt Dunning has played his whole career as If he has had a concussion

Also, I reckon Cummins will be the outside back with the fight on his hands, he hasn't exactly impressed me this year, I would put him behind David Smith if he does sign
