Just went to the Canterbury shop in town and asked about new Force shirts ...
They aren't allowed to sell them!
Somebody (Force? WA rugby? ISC?) have an exclusive deal with Rebel Sports! That is the ONLY place you can get force stuff. No more Force shop! The ground vans will be Rebel Sport run.
This is disgusting. If an International tourist wants to buy a shirt .... Too bad, go to Rebel sport. How many are in town? 0!
Price fixing? Competition? No new Jerseys for me until they undo this anti-competitive bit of practice.
Opinions?
[Edited by Coach: The official Team Store located at RugbyWA HQ remains open and trading as always, additionally they have an official online store]
Is it the same for the other franchises? Possibly it's a deal too good to refuse for rugby or the ARU?
I remember buying my 2009 jersey from the merch van first game of the year......by far the most expensive way of doing it at the time, but quick, convenient and ready for the game (swapped the 07 jersey on the spot as I recall) I don't think it'll have much impact on prices for jerseys, more likely the ancillaries will fluctuate (and the fluctuation will depend upon how well they sell) a chain like rebel are more likely to run out old stock at the end of the season rather than hang on to it like a specialist might, so the likely impacts are.
Prices of out of season stock will drop quicker
In season stock will maintain it's price for the whole season
If they don't sell well, you will see a drop in availability, not price (ie 2012 jerseys will be harder to find)
Prices and variety of extra stuff (like training tops, bucket hats, wine glasses and all the other stuff) will depend on how well they sell.

im not going to buy a jersey if its going to cost more than $100 sorry.... i was shocked to see even the 09 junior jerseys at RugbyWA were over $120
seriously no wonder Rugby isnt seen as a working class game.
I'm looking at a jersey as a three year purchase, that way it's $40 a year. New jersey for me next year!

That's where I got a home jersey and gold away jersey for about $50 all up. They should have the new shirts in soon.
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
I have always found it extraordinary to see so many people in Perth wearing force gear both at the games, but in particular around town on non match days. I don’t see this in any other sXV city in OZ. Can’t help think that not having to pay $180 for a shirt contributes significantly to this. Can’t help but think some bean counters are missing out on the bigger picture and the continuing meed to have a strong visual presence in an AFL town
As long as the design doesn't change drastically, that won't be so much of an issue. Lots of people are like me and not too fussy about wearing an older jersey, I still see plenty of 2006 jerseys around my way

You can get it from the online shop as well but it is pricey
Last jersey I bought was 2009 and paid $70 at Rebel Sport shortly after the Super Rugby season had finished
I have 4 2006 Jerseys after buying the home and away jerseys then had the second set given to me. I just grab one off of the pile not fussed which year. I liked the Gold jerseys, still surprised that wasnt the home Jersey

Agreed on the gold one Jargs.
I had grand plans of having one of each version but then thought that was a bit dumb.
Pretty much only wear them on match day (regardless of location) so the two from the first season and one from the second should see me out.
For the glorified Twisties wrapper that they are they would cost all of $5 to make, it is a wrought.
They should put out another traditional style one like the TWF Jersey, that gets far more wear by me than the official strip.

Traditional style like the Perth Spirit jersey from the ill fated ARC?

Has anybody contacted RugbyWA about this? They may have plans.
I can't believe that they would not have a shop in the ground re-development plan.
