THE Melbourne Rebels are said to be interested in injured Western Force outside centre Mitch Inman for next season.
The hard-running Inman has a link with Rebels assistant coach Damien Hill, who coached him at Sydney University.
There were rumours yesterday that Inman had already agreed to move to Melbourne. Asked whether the speculation was correct, Inman's manager, his brother Dane, said: "We can't confirm or deny it.
"At the moment we are focused on getting Mitch back on the field for the Force."
If Inman leaves Perth, the Force will have to intensify
its search for another outside centre.
Queensland outside centre Will Chambers is coming off contract and would be a target.
The Force has already lost Inman for up to six weeks after he dislocated his right elbow in the side's loss to the Sharks in Perth last Saturday night.
Inman's sidelining was compounded after his replacement, Rory Sidey, was suspended for three weeks for a spear tackle on Sharks winger Odwa Ndungane.
Former Waratahs and Brumbies outside back Alfi Mafi is likely to start at outside centre for the Force against the Blues in Perth on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, one of the foreign players the Rebels tried to recruit, Springbok hooker Bismarck du Plessis, will oppose them when the unbeaten Sharks take on Melbourne on Friday night.

Lets be honest, we knew someone would be interested in Inman - he's too good not to attract interest from other teams. I see him as potentially the next Mortlock.
A bigger story would be: "Starter in a Super 14 team coming off contract doesn't attract interest from anyone"!
Lets consider interest from the Rebels as proof that the coaches are doing something right, and hope that Inman considers the advantages of continuity over cash when contract negotiation comes up.
I'm only going on what the Qld'ers were telling us at the time.
JOC?? He was in Grade 10 when EWF was formed.
Why? You keep harping on about it like it's the first time it's happened to any professional club in the history of professional sport. It's not, and it won't be the last. It's cyclical. So the force will have it happen to them eventually. As will the reds again.

I hate this view. James O'Connor was shot down by something like 4 teams over east telling him he was too small to make it in professional rugby, union and league. And John Mitchell gave him a shot. The rest, yeah we took from you. But everyone missed their opportunity with James O'Connor, the Force knew a good thing when they saw it![]()
Marto pisses me off every game with some snide remark about us nicking him from QLD. All wrong!
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

It's wonder Marto even knows his name, they stuff up that many Force players it's not funny. Saturday we heard Luke Inman had a dislocated elbow about 5 times before Canno advised that if "Mitch" Inman was in Luke Inman's hands he would be fine because he's a doctor, sadly though there was no Luke. And there was one other now wheh he called someone Ben and is was not MCCallman.......at least have look at the team sheets before the game fellas![]()
