Matt Dunning
Emirates Western Force prop Matt Dunning will miss the club’s tour of South Africa after a suffering a foot injury during Saturday night’s draw against the Blues in Perth.
Dunning was an impressive performer in the front row and started at tighthead prop after Tim Fairbrother was a late withdrawal.
Scans however have revealed a tendon injury in his left foot which will require him to wear a moon boot and spend approximately a month on the sidelines.
“His first start of the season against the Blues he showed what type of impact he can have in the game,” Head Coach Richard Graham said.
“Up against an All Blacks opponent his effort was first class and while we’ll miss his experience we have a number of up and coming players ready to take on the challenge of playing in the front row.
“We’ll wait and see how Matt responds in the boot and reassess after we return from South Africa but are hopeful to have him back again in around four weeks.”
Bolstering the club’s forward stocks is the expected return of Fairbrother who will travel and press for a recall to the starting side after missing the Blues match while star back James O’Connor has recovered without any ill effects after landing awkwardly on his neck late in the game and is available for selection against the Lions.
