Wallabies wing Drew Mitchell could be able to play by August and has not given up hope on being fit for the World Cup.
The Waratahs flyer has undergone surgery to his dislocated right ankle and broken fibula, which had looked set to rule out any chance of playing in the global showpiece in September and October.
But the 27-year-old has not thrown in his cards just yet and is aiming to be up and running a month before the Wallabies' opening match against Italy.
''The indication I got is 12-14 weeks, it is much better news than it could have been,'' Mitchell told the Sydney Morning Herald.
