This week the rugby club is asking for a vote on who the Wallabies Scrumhalf should be! I would have thought the answer was obvious and the vote sould be who is going to sit on the bench twiddling their thumbs and/or who will get game time when we play USA and Russia. I was more than shocked to see the results, in what tripped out universe does Luke Burgess get 14% of the vote????????
My question is are Tahds on drugs????

If you saw him carve up England game 1 in Perth last year, there would be some support. His defence is very good and his option taking has improved. I think he is very good but Genia gets the nod by a whisker
The scene is active
Phipps has been in better form this year and he isn't leaving next year. He fits into the Wallabies game plan better because his passing is a thousand times better than Burgess'.
We know what Burgess will bring so why not at least get Phipps the experience up so he will be ready should either Burgess or Genia get injured.

Burgess is a running halfback, he attacks the very line well and is strong in contact.. But, his passing game is not in the same park as Genia's, or even Phibb's for that matter, also his decision making this year has at times been somewhat erratic.
A running halfback isnt going to find the holes in defence against teams like England or New Zealand at the RWC, a crisp passing game is whats needed at Wallaby level.
Phipps passing for the Rebels has been sensational.
I attribute slow passing to part of the reason our backline doesn't function.

Slow passing, along flat compressed lines, without much variation, with passes at or behind a man standing static, who frequently fumbles. Just about all the "don't" boxes, which is how we turn forward dominance into a draw.
I remember watching the Crusaders backs prior to one game running a line at speed and passing the ball back and forwards. They barely seemed to be paying attention and it certainly looked effortless, as though they could do it with their eyes shut. It looked to me like total mastery of basic skills, allowing them to focus on all the otherv things going on around them. Seldom ever get that feeling watching an Australian side.
I would think the numbers are pretty good, Burgess is about as valuable as Phipps because he provides a point of difference, which is always good to have in a squad. Two passers and one runner isn't a bad mix.

Hahahaha. Andy I thought the first part of your thread was about Phipps at first. I wondered if I had missed some games where he was bad.
Yeah I can't wait to see Justin Turner come back. I just hope his injury doesn't affect his zip in the long run.

I dont think we should have a specialist back up in the 22 for the RWC Campaign. Genia will be expected and capable to play 80 minutes. For mine should an injury occur i would have Giteau or Lucas on the bench to cover various positions including 9. Theres enough versatility in our starting backs to only have two backs as reserve.
The only time id like to see Burgess or Phipps is if they start should Genia be unable to play at all.
9. Genia
20. Swanepoel (brings what you are after Haji and his pass is second only to Genia for 95% of the time)
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
I noticed Justin Marshall was pretty critical of Swanepoel on Friday night. Marshall was a dead set legend at half back, you'd have to be a pretty handy half back to impress him I would imagine.
On a side note for the lads: type Candice Swanepoel into google.
You can take my praise either for the first comment or the second either way.
