DUNEDIN, 10 Sept. - Jonny Wilkinson kicked the crucial points as England overcame a valiant Pumas challenge to win 13-9 in their Pool B match at Otago Stadium on Saturday.
Argentina led 9-3 before replacement Ben Youngs crossed the line in the 67th-minute for the match's only try.
Fly half Wilkinson kicked the conversion from under the posts to put England 10-9 ahead before wrapping up victory with five minutes remaining with a penalty.
In a match littered with poor penalty kicking, Argentina fly half Felipe Contepomi's seventh-minute penalty was matched by England counterpart Wilkinson five minutes later.
Pumas full back Martín Rodríguez kicked another penalty in the 20th minute to give his team a 6-3 half-time lead.
Rodríguez kept his head to extend the lead to six points early in the second half before Youngs and Wilkinson intervened to turn the match in England's favour.

Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Disappointed the pumas couldn't put this one away, they certainly deserved it.....probably fitness and mental toughness were the difference, because 60 out they had the pome over a barrel

Tough game, I think that will help England though, later on in the comp. Argentina are a good side.
This might not have helped...

Englands only aggression last night was when James Haskill told an Arggie that he was a F##king prick right at the very end of the game!!!! say no more.
...and then retracted his accusation of an eye gouge this morning...
