NEW Brumbies coach Jake White says the club's trip to Darwin next month will provide an opportunity to promote rugby within the Top End community.
The Brumbies will play their opening trial match of the season against the Western Force in Darwin on February 4.
They will remain in Darwin for a further three days, taking time to engage with the community both in the city and throughout the Northern Territory. Visits to Nhulunbuy, the Tiwi Islands and Jabiru will be coupled with trips to schools, hospitals and correctional facilities.
White said: "I've never been to Darwin but I've heard it's a special place. The chance to engage the community up there and promote the Brumbies and rugby in general throughout the Northern Territory is quite exciting.
"Playing against the Force is the ultimate focus and it will be a huge challenge for us as a group but we feel prepared to take that step.
"It's been a long pre-season for us and I know the players are keen to get some rugby under their belts."
The Brumbies will start their Super 15 season against the Force at Canberra Stadium on February 24.
