hopefully this low moves away by mid week, leading to some decent run off fishing by next weekend and with any luck sum barra. Shady camp opens this weekend and there are a few charter companies who do runs out there, dont know how busy they would be

Dundee is a long trip for a late start, maybe a charter based out of cullen bay? There are a few charter companies who operate 1/2 day blue water trips from cullen bay. I have heard good things about Arafura bluwater charters and darwin reef and wreck charter, both operate from cullen bay. At this point the weather is not good with rain predicted well into next week

"Hell" match in Top End perfect for Western Force

by: Dale Granger From: The Sunday Times January 29, 2012 12:00AM

WESTERN Force coach Richard Graham wants his players to be up for a firefight when they hit the Brumbies next Saturday in a Super Rugby dress rehearsal in Darwin.

    And it's only a warm-up game.

They call it the suicide season in the Top End in February when humidity can soar into the high 80s, with temperatures in the mid 30s just the stuff to prepare the Perth club for another gruelling season of Super Rugby, according to their coach.

"Think back to last year when we played warm-ups in plus 40 in Sydney at a similar time," Graham said.

"Just about anywhere you organise trial games at this time of year can be sticky.

"We'll be taking all care to manage the situation before our recovery and we'll discuss the plans closer to game time.

"We'll take enough care in our preparation and won't have an issue, so I'm not concerned whatsoever."

While the game at Rugby Park is likely to be played in quarters with frequent water breaks and both teams using expanded squads of up to 26 to rotate players, some may question the wisdom of the Force playing a trial versus the same derby rival that it will kick off its tournament against in Canberra three weeks later.

"Both sides will be guarded," said Graham, assuring the Force faithful that Darwin will not be in the Territory to reveal, or practise, any secret moves.

"The game is more about getting involved in playing rugby and seeing where our physical condition is at, as well as our technical ability such as lineouts, lifting, catching and passing skills under pressure."

Nevertheless, when Australian derby rivals meet there is always the real possibility of a bruising battle, warm-up or not, as rivals for the Wallaby jumper look to prove a point or settle old scores.

Graham would not have it any other way.

"Frankly, I'll be disappointed if any of my players hold back," he said. "For us, this is about controlling our attitude and preparation. There's no future for anything less than 100 per cent from players who are competing for positions in Super Rugby."

There is no excuse for a team from the hot West Coast to lose to a rabble from the Alpine Country in a pre-season Tropics match.

Although I'm fairly sure we can come up with excuses if we need to!
