New Brumbies coach Jake White believes it is tougher for Australian sides to be successful in Super Rugby compared with their South African and New Zealand counterparts.
The former World Cup-wining South Africa boss joined the Brumbies late last year, replacing interim coach Tony Rea, who took over after the sacking of Andy Friend.
Speaking at the launch of this year’s FX Pro Super Rugby season, White said the realities of coaching an Australian franchise - his first head coaching role since Rugby World Cup 2007 - hit home shortly after his arrival.
"From coaching international rugby, it’s probably been for me also a bit of a learning curve in that it’s (Super Rugby) very different in Australia," White said.
"To be fair there’s salary caps, there’s small squads – you know in South Africa they’ve got players coming out of their ears and they don’t have salary caps.
"I think in some ways it’s probably tougher on Australian sides to do really well in this competition.”

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Did an australian franchise, not win the championship last year jake?....

If South Africa has players coming out of it's ears, why were the Lions so awful for so long while at the same time the Cheetahs were mostly in the bottom four teams in the competition?
You'd have thought a salary cap would benefit the Brumbies. Why else would anyone want to play for them?
