It is understood the Force are looking at bringing South African-born halfback Mark Swanepoel back to Perth.
Swanepoel, part of the Reds academy in 2009, played for the Force last year on a short-term contract, qualifying as an Australian local because of residency.
But Swanepoel lost his Australian status when he moved to New Zealand to play for Canterbury in the National Provincial Championship.
If the Force recruited Swanepoel, it would have to sign him as a foreign development player, a spot on the roster it has not filled since New Zealand five-eighth Willie Ripia's departure last December.
"We'll look at anyone who can play nine," Reid said.

I dont see why we are needing to use Swanopeol as our "international development player" .. he played with us 2 years ago as an "australian" now ARU want to play silly buggers as he played in the NPC for a season..
ARE WE TRYING TO STRENGTH AUSTRALIAN RUGBY, OR HAVE A TEAM OF C GRADE INTERNATIONALS AFTER THE B GRADERS FAIL !!
With the Rebels losing more marquee spots its about time the ARU allowed all of the teams an additional marquee development player slot.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Hell yes! This is fantastic! Swanepol was wonderful at the end of last season. Worth the developmental spot. And if the Force didn't want to be stuck in this position of bringing him in as the marquee spot, he definitely shouldn't have been let go at the end of last season. Even if they did, still should have kept him hanging around.
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

We were all surprised they let him go.
Perhaps that was RGs brilliant signing strategy at play? "Fagan" Ripia, Rapana, Toupou, Stanley, Fairbanks, Nalaga in. Nalaga looks likely from what little we have seen, but we did not need a wing especially as the marquee, we have desperately needed a 12 from day 1. The other three are development projects, pity two are injured. They might come good. Fairbanks unfortunately has not been sighted. Anyway they are all not really what was required.
Spot the Rugby player out to this list
Topou - Rugby League convert, RG's eyes "he'll do", in VR eyes "yeah bargain lets get him"
Stanley - Rugby League convert.
Ripia - No Idea, apart from waste of space, kicked 1 goal and the FoxSports crew thought he was fantastic.
Fairbanks - Retiree, out from the white-ants.
I have said on a number on occasions, RG has had 2 years in the job and lets name the player that he has selected or chosen that has done anything !! I can name 1, David Smith, and NO ONE ELSE.

Probably mitchell's doing... so then i'll take away Smith and say NO ONE was chosen and developed with RG in charge. --- useless twat he was !!!
oh get over it. he's gone and the team is trying to go onwards and upwards. bitching and complaining isnt going to change anything. this season is still fucked
we came off better than the reds IMO
sounds like a woman scorned![]()
I reckon they should have me and Hertryk on the recruitment panel. We'd soon sort the men from the boys!!![]()
